Want to study in Germany? The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) offers scholarships to international students like you. Learn about the KAS German scholarship, eligibility requirements, and the application process in this informative article from Masertak.

- The application deadline is July 15th at 12:00 PM every year.
- The duration and level of funding vary depending on the type of study.
- Graduates (Master’s or higher) receive a monthly scholarship of 861 euros. The standard funding period is two years after receiving unconditional acceptance into a doctoral program at a German university.
- Doctoral students receive a monthly scholarship of 1200 euros (the standard funding period for doctoral students is three years).
- The scholarship also funds research stays in Germany for a minimum of three semesters.
- It supports health insurance up to a maximum of 120 euros per month.
- It also provides a family allowance of 276 euros, provided that you and your spouse live together in one place in Germany for at least three months and that your income does not exceed 450 euros per month.
- In addition, a child allowance of 194 euros per month is granted for children living with you in Germany (the basic requirements are to submit an official German translation of the child’s birth certificate and the official rejection of your application for general child allowance).
- Furthermore, doctoral applicants can apply for financial assistance for research stays abroad. However, participation in conferences or seminars is not funded.

- For medicine or pharmacy, applications are only accepted after completing the intermediate exam in Germany or upon reaching a comparable stage in their studies.
- Law.
- Science.
- Music.
- Specialization training for human medicine, dentistry, or residency in postgraduate research in Germany cannot be supported.

- Two original copies of a university degree are required, of course, as you are applying for support to study for a Master’s or Doctorate.
- Proof of above-average academic performance.
- A good command of the German language (level B2) is required.
- Active participation in voluntary work.
- You plan to study for at least four semesters at a university in Germany.
- To be eligible for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship, the candidate must be no older than 30 years at the time of application.
- Please note: Individuals who have already obtained a doctoral degree are not eligible for the scholarship.
- There is a minimum grade requirement for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship. The student’s average grade in all previous degrees, according to the degree they are applying for, must be 78% or higher.
- Curriculum vitae in table form including details of your previous voluntary work or social commitment.
- Certificate (university entrance qualification, Abitur certificate, Fachhochschulreife certificate or special examination for gifted students or university entrance qualification certificate based on professional qualifications)
- Letter of motivation.
- Copies of your examination certificates translated into German if the original copies are not in English.
- Copies of your academic records if you are studying at a university in Germany.
- Proof of German language proficiency (B2).
- Informal academic letter of recommendation: This letter should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential; it should not be older than two months. 1 The author must be a university professor or a teacher with a doctoral degree.
- Informal letter of recommendation concerning your personality: This letter should focus on your personality and interests as well as on your understanding of values and social commitment. The author cannot be the same person who provides the academic letter of recommendation.
- Certificate of admission or high school diploma from your university in Germany.

- Detailed description of your doctoral thesis: This presentation must be written in German or English (5-10 pages; font size 12; 1.5 line spacing) and must identify the central research question of your proposed project and its scientific significance and your theoretical approach, along with the motivations behind your choice of research topic. It should also include a work plan, a timeline, and a bibliography.
Second Academic Recommendation Letter: This second letter should be written by your doctoral dissertation supervisor, provided that you already have one. It replaces the recommendation letter concerning the applicant’s personality.
- Applications can be submitted only once and cannot be reopened on the application after submission.
- The maximum file size for uploading files (for example, in the additional documents submission form) is 5MB for TIFF, JPEG, or PDF formats. Please make sure that these files are not password protected. Please upload no more than 8 file attachments per application, otherwise there is a risk of memory errors.
- The portal session is limited to two hours, after which there will be an automatic session timeout! Please note this when filling out online forms. Please save your time and exit the application. Then log in again.
